Utilizing the Prepare & Enrich Inventory we meet twice for an overview of your relationship strengths, and growth areas. I then provide a written summary with personalized recommendations for strengthening your relationship. We can also meet throughout your marriage preparation to address your growth areas and create the strongest start possible.
You are here because you want something in your life to be different than it is right now. You have taken the bravest step possible and decided to reach out for help. Are you feeling stuck in your marriage? Are you unable to figure out what exactly is wrong? Maybe you and your spouse have become ships passing in the night, the friendship, the admiration is gone. Maybe you dread coming home because it seems like all that awaits is conflict, or have you just given up on even trying to get your needs met. I specialize in helping diagnose and treat marital challenges. We will start by diagnosing what is going on in your marriage and understanding how that compares to what research tells us about thriving marriages. We will build a goal together and you will walk away with new tools to return to a joy filled marriage that brings you comfort, safety, and relief at the end of the day.
In order to support my clients I maintain a high level of continuing education. I am trained in Level 1 and Level 2 Gottman Marital Strategies, as well as Emotion Focused Couples Therapy, and Imago relationship therapy. I maintain training in the areas of trauma, attachment, and update my clinical skills regularly.
Clients also seek me out to navigate life changes; entering adulthood, transitioning to parenthood, feeling lost, struggling with anxiety, intrusive thoughts, or depression. Wherever life has led you I am here to help you find your footing, gain personal insight and move forward on your journey.
In 2006 I earned a Masters' degree in Clinical Psychology with a specialty in Marriage and Family Therapy from Benedictine University. I was licensed in Illinois as an LPC. I took a few years off to focus on my kids and I am now in the process of becoming licensed in Oregon. I am a Registered Intern (R4712) in the state of Oregon and I am supervised by Paul Myers, PhD.
Do you Accept Insurance?
Short Answer: No
Long Answer: No, couples seek out marital counseling because their relationship is hurting. This means your relationship is my client, I am seeking to bring healing to your relationship and therefore will not be diagnosing the individuals in the relationship. Insurance requires a diagnosis to pay for services.
For individuals I am not associated with any insurance panels, and do not accept insurance for payment.
What is TeleTherapy?
Teletherapy is a safe, secure, confidential way to provide professional counseling services online. Counseling sessions are provided with the use of video conferencing, similar to FaceTime and Skype. You will be connecting in real time with your counselor, over video. I use video conferencing software designed for counseling so it ensures your privacy is protected! Teletherapy is not for every client, and requires an adequate internet connection that can support video chat. Contact me to discuss further.
